ILO is a United Nations agency dealing with labour issues, particularly international labour standards, social protection, and work opportunities for all. In Nepal the ILO provides training institutions and other implementing organisations with programme training materials for target groups in the micro and small business sector.

UNDP Nepal

UNDP is the UN’s global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.

UNDP has been supporting the Nepalese people in their struggle against poverty since it opened an in-country office in 1963. Much of this support has gone to building up the capacity of government agencies, civil society and community groups to fight poverty, and to bringing these groups and Nepal’s donors together to design and implement successful poverty alleviation projects, such as SIYB.

 

Ministry of Industry, Nepal

Micro Enterprise Development through Poverty Alleviation (MEDPA) is one the main program of Ministry of Industry-GoN implemented by Department of Cottage and Small Industry (DCSI) and Cottage and Small Industry Development Board (CSIDB). MEDPA aims to implement in 75 districts of Nepal.

MEDPA is a focused programme and it targets to address the requirements of the people living below poverty line. The program implements entrepreneurship development activities at remote and less accessible VDCs by targeting hard core poor, marginalized, backward women and indigenous people.

One of the major objectives of MEDPA is employment generation by promoting high value products for value addition in rural ares.

Industrial Enterprise Development Institute (IEDI)

IEDI is a national resource organisation committed to entrepreneurship development through training, research, consultancy and enterprise education. Much of IEDI’s activities and staff are dedicated to entrepreneurial training. Through its multi-pronged activities, IEDI aims to create a better economic situation for Nepal and contribute towards improving the quality of life for all of its people. At present the SIYB Secretariat is hosted by IEDI, located in Tripureswor, Kathmandu.

The Center for Business Development (CEBUD) aims to support corporate, cooperative, non-profit making and public sector organizations for the development governance of their business through research, training and consultancy services. It also provides management innovation and technology based support services for various sectors.

 

NEDC Logo

National Entrepreneurship Development Centre (NEDC)

NEDC is a federated body of Business Development Service Providing Organizations (BDSPOs) who are formally registered under the NGO act of the Government of Nepal. These BDSPOs are currently active among more than 36 districts of Nepal (about 50%). NEDC’s human resources include more than 500 skilled and trained human resource that have the expertise in providing and facilitating enterprise development services.
